The River of the Water of Life and the Tree of Life

¹And he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

²In the midst of the street thereof, and on both sides of the river, was the tree of life, bearing twelve fruits, yielding its fruits every month, and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

³And there shall be no curse any more; but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve him.

⁴And they shall see his face: and his name shall be on their foreheads.

⁵And night shall be no more: and they shall not need the light of the lamp, nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God shall enlighten them, and they shall reign for ever and ever.

The Promise of Coming Soon and the Warning

⁶And he said to me: These words are most faithful and true. And the Lord God of the spirits of the prophets sent his angel to shew his servants the things which must be done shortly.

⁷And, Behold I come quickly. Blessed is he that keepeth the words of the prophecy of this book.

⁸And I, John, who have heard and seen these things. And after I had heard and seen, I fell down to adore before the feet of the angel, who shewed me these things.

⁹And he said to me: See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them that keep the words of the prophecy of this book. Adore God.

¹⁰And he saith to me: Seal not the words of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

¹¹He that hurteth, let him hurt still: and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is just, let him be justified still: and he that is holy, let him be sanctified still.

¹²Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to every man according to his works.

¹³I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

¹⁴Blessed are they that wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb: that they may have a right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

¹⁵Without are dogs, and sorcerers, and unchaste, and murderers, and servers of idols, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.

The Final Testimony and the Plea for the Lord

¹⁶I Jesus have sent my angel, to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and stock of David, the bright and morning star.

¹⁷And the spirit and the bride say: Come. And he that heareth, let him say: Come. And he that thirsteth, let him come: and he that will, let him take the water of life, freely.

¹⁸For I testify to every one that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book: If any man shall add to these things, God shall add unto him the plagues written in this book.

¹⁹And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from these things that are written in this book.

²⁰He that giveth testimony of these things, saith, Surely I come quickly: Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

²¹The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

The Day of the Lord and the Sun of Righteousness

¹For behold the day shall come kindled as a furnace: and all the proud, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall set them on fire, saith the Lord of hosts, it shall not leave them root, nor branch.

²But unto you that fear my name, the Sun of justice shall arise, and health in his wings: and you shall go forth, and shall leap like calves of the herd.

³And you shall tread down the wicked when they shall be ashes under the sole of your feet in the day that I do this, saith the Lord of hosts.

I Will Send Elijah

⁴Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, the precepts, and judgments.

⁵Behold I will send you Elias the prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

⁶And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers: lest I come, and strike the earth with anathema.

Jesus Appears at the Sea of Tiberias

¹After this, Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And he shewed himself after this manner.

²There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas, who is called Didymus, and Nathanael, who was of Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.

³Simon Peter saith to them: I go a fishing. They say to him: We also come with thee. And they went forth, and entered into the ship: and that night they caught nothing.

⁴But when the morning was come, Jesus stood on the shore: yet the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

⁵Jesus therefore said to them: Children, have you any meat? They answered him: No.

⁶He saith to them: Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and you shall find. They cast therefore; and now they were not able to draw it, for the multitude of fishes.

⁷That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved, said to Peter: It is the Lord. Simon Peter, when he heard that it was the Lord, girt his coat about him, (for he was naked,) and cast himself into the sea.

⁸But the other disciples came in the ship, (for they were not far from the land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.

⁹As soon then as they came to land, they saw hot coals lying, and a fish laid thereon, and bread.

¹⁰Jesus saith to them: Bring hither of the fishes which you have now caught.

¹¹Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land, full of great fishes, one hundred and fifty-three. And although there were so many, the net was not broken.

¹²Jesus saith to them: Come, and dine. And none of them who were at meat, durst ask him: Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.

¹³And Jesus cometh and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish in like manner.

¹⁴This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to his disciples, after he was risen from the dead.

Jesus Restores Peter

¹⁵When therefore they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter: Simon son of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith to him: Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: Feed my lambs.

¹⁶He saith to him again: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith to him: Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: Feed my lambs.

¹⁷He said to him the third time: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he had said to him the third time: Lovest thou me? And he said to him: Lord, thou knowest all things: thou knowest that I love thee. He said to him: Feed my sheep.

¹⁸Amen, amen I say to thee, when thou wast younger, thou didst gird thyself, and didst walk where thou wouldst. But when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and lead thee whither thou wouldst not.

¹⁹And this he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said this, he saith to him: Follow me.

²⁰Peter turning about, saw that disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned on his breast at supper, and said: Lord, who is he that shall betray thee?

²¹Him therefore when Peter had seen, he saith to Jesus: Lord, and what shall this man do?

²²Jesus saith to him: So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee? follow thou me.

²³This saying therefore went abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. And Jesus did not say to him: He should not die; but, So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee?

²⁴This is that disciple who giveth testimony of these things, and hath written these things; and we know that his testimony is true.

²⁵But there are also many other things which Jesus did; which, if they were written every one, the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written.
