Leviticus 6 Introduction
Laws relative to detention of property entrusted to the care of another, to robbery, and deceit, Leviticus 6:1, Leviticus 6:2; finding of goods lost, keeping them from their owner, and swearing falsely, Leviticus 6:3. Such a person shall not only restore what he has thus unlawfully gotten, but shall add a fifth part of the value of the property besides, Leviticus 6:4, Leviticus 6:5; and bring a ram without blemish, for a trespass-offering to the Lord, Leviticus 6:6, Leviticus 6:7. Laws relative to the burnt-offering and the perpetual fire, Leviticus 6:8-13. Law of the meat-offering, and who may lawfully eat of it, Leviticus 6:14-18. Laws relative to the offerings of Aaron and his sons and their successors, on the day of their anointing, Leviticus 6:19-23. Laws relative to the sin-offering, and those who might eat of it, Leviticus 6:24-30.

This chapter treats of the trespass offering for sins committed knowingly and wilfully, Leviticus 6:1 and of the law of the burnt offering, and of cleansing the altar of burnt offering, and keeping the fire burning on it continually, Leviticus 6:8 and of the meat offering, which is repeated with some additional circumstances, Leviticus 6:14 and of the offering at the consecration of the high priest, Leviticus 6:19 and of the sin offering, and where to be killed and eaten, and by whom, Leviticus 6:24.

TRESPASS OFFERING FOR SINS DONE WITTINGLY.
In the Hebrew Bible Leviticus 6:1-7 form part of Leviticus 5. It is evident that they ought to do so.
And the Lord spake unto Moses,.... Continuing his speech with him, for the same law of the trespass offering is still discoursed of, only with respect to different persons:
saying: as follows.
Trespass-offerings for sins of deceit, or violence and perjury; restoration must be made, and a ram offered, Leviticus 6:1-7. The law of the burntoffering further declared; the fire to be ever burning upon the altar, Leviticus 6:8-13. Of meat-offerings for a memorial unto the Lord, and every one that toucheth them is holy, Leviticus 6:14-18. Meat offerings for the consecration of Aaron and his sons, Leviticus 6:19-23. Of the sin offering, Leviticus 6:24-30.

Verse 1. - And the Lord spake. The six following verses contain a separate communication from the Lord to Moses, but in continuance of the subject which began at Leviticus 5:14.
The first seven verses of this chapter might fitly have been added to the foregoing chapter, being a continuation of the law of the trespass-offering, and the putting of other cases in which it was to be offered; and with this end the instructions God gave concerning the several kinds of sacrifices that should be offered: and then at Le 6:8 (which in the original begins a new section of the law) he comes to appoint the several rites and ceremonies concerning these sacrifices which had not been mentioned before. I. The burnt-offering, Le 6:8-13. II. The meat-offering (Le 6:11-18), particularly that at the consecration of the priest, Le 6:19-23. III. The sin-offering, Le 6:24-30, etc.
