난외 참조와 비교하라. 아하시야는 므깃도에 잠시 머문 뒤 사마리아로 옮겨 갔다. 그곳에서는 상처를 더 잘 치료받고 몸을 숨기기도 더 쉬웠을 것이다. 예후의 사자들이 그곳에서 그를 찾아냈고, 당시 우연히 므깃도에 있던 예후에게 데려갔다. 예후는 바로 그곳에서 그를 죽였다. 그러므로 여기의 서술은 열왕기의 기록을 보충하며, "그가 므깃도로 도망하였더니"라는 절과 "거기서 죽은지라"라는 말 사이에 들어갈 내용이다.
그들이 그를 죽인 후에 묻었으니 — 예후의 사자들은 그를 죽였으나 그의 종들이 그를 장사하도록 허락했다(왕하 9:28 참조).
왕위를 이을 능력이 … 없었더라 — 아하시야는 죽을 때 겨우 23세였으므로(대하 22:2 주석 참조), 왕위를 이을 성년 아들이 없었다.

Compare the marginal reference. Ahaziah after remaining a while at Megiddo, removed to Samaria, where his wounds could be better cared for and concealment might be easier; Jehu's emissaries discovered him there; they took him to Jehu, who happened at the time to be at Megiddo; and then and there Jehu put him to death. The narrative here is therefore supplementary to that of 2 Kings, and finds its proper place between the clause," He fled to Megiddo," and the words "and died there."
And when they had slain him, they buried him - Jehu's emissaries killed him but allowed his servants to bury him (see 2 Kings 9:28).
No power ... - As Ahaziah was but twenty-three at his death (2 Chronicles 22:2 note), he had no grown-up son to take the crown.
