8. 시편 121:2와 비교하라. 이름은 통상적 의미다(시편 5:11; 20:1). 그는 이렇게 큰 위험 앞에 전능하신 하나님을 세우고, 온 세상과 지옥의 악을 마치 찬가 속에 잠기게 하듯 한다. 큰 불이 작은 물방울을 삼키듯이 말이다 [루터].
시편 124:1-8. 저자는 교회를 대신하여 과거의 구원에 대해 하나님을 찬양하고, 원수들에게서 장래에도 구원하실 것을 신뢰한다고 표현한다. 1, 2. 우리 편에 계셨다는 우리를 위하셨다는 뜻이다(시편 56:9). 이제 또는 "오, 이스라엘이 말하기를"이라는 뜻이다.
