Deliver Me from Lying Lips

¹[A song of degrees.] In my distresse I cried vnto the Lord: and hee heard me.

²Deliuer my soule, O Lord, from lying lips: and from a deceitfull tongue.

³What shall be giuen vnto thee? or what shalbe done vnto thee, thou false tongue?

⁴Sharpe arrowes of the mightie: with coales of iuniper.

⁵Woe is me, that I soiourne in Mesech: that I dwell in the tents of Kedar.

⁶My soule hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.

⁷I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for warre.

Eyes Lifted to the Hills and the Lord Who Keeps

¹[A song of degrees.] I will lift vp mine eyes vnto the hilles: from whence commeth my helpe.

²My helpe commeth from the Lord: which made heauen and earth.

³He will not suffer thy foote to bee moued: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

⁴Behold, he that keepeth Israel; shall neither slumber nor sleepe.

⁵The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade, vpon thy right hand.

⁶The sunne shall not smite thee by day; nor the moone by night.

⁷The Lord shall preserue thee from all euill: hee shall preserue thy soule.

⁸The Lord shall preserue thy going out, and thy comming in: from this time foorth and euen for euermore.

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

¹[A song of degrees of Dauid.] I was glad when they sayd vnto me: Let vs goe into the house of the Lord.

²Our feete shall stand within thy gates, O Ierusalem.

³Ierusalem is builded as a citie, that is compact together:

⁴Whither the tribes goe vp, the tribes of the Lord, vnto the testimonie of Israel: to giue thankes vnto the name of the Lord.

⁵For there are set thrones of iudgment: the thrones of the house of Dauid.

⁶Pray for the peace of Ierusalem: they shall prosper that loue thee.

⁷Peace be within thy walles: and prosperitie within thy palaces.

⁸For my brethren and companions sakes: I will now say, Peace be within thee.

⁹Because of the house of the Lord our God: I will seeke thy good.

The Good News Proclaimed by the Anointed One

¹The Spirit of the Lord God is vpon me, because the Lord hath anointed me, to preach good tidings vnto the meeke, hee hath sent me to binde vp the broken hearted, to proclaime libertie to the captiues, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound:

²To proclaime the acceptable yere of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all that mourne:

³To appoint vnto them that mourne in Zion, to giue vnto them beautie for ashes, the oyle of ioy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heauinesse, that they might be called trees of righteousnesse, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

⁴And they shall build the olde wastes, they shall raise vp the former desolations, and they shall repaire the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

⁵And strangers shall stand and feed your flockes, and the sonnes of the alient shalbe your plowmen, and your Uine-dressers.

⁶But ye shalbe named the Priests of the Lord: men shall call you the ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall you boast your selues.

⁷For your shame you shall haue double; and for confusion they shall reioyce in their portion: therefore in their land they shal possesse the double: euerlasting ioy shalbe vnto them.

⁸For I the Lord loue Iudgement, I hate robbery for burnt offering, and I will direct their worke in trueth, and I will make an euerlasting Couenant with them.

⁹And their seed shalbe knowen among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: All that see them, shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the Lord hath blessed.

¹⁰I will greatly reioyce in the Lord, my soule shalbe ioyfull in my God: for he hath clothed me with the garments of saluation, he hath couered me with the robe of righteousnes, as a bridegrome decketh himselfe with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herselfe with her iewels.

¹¹For as the earth bringeth foorth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sowen in it, to spring foorth: so the Lord God will cause righteousnes and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Jesus Heals a Paralytic

¹And hee entred into a ship, and passed ouer, and came into his owne citie.

²And behold, they brought to him a man sicke of the palsie, lying on a bed: and Iesus seeing their faith, said vnto the sicke of the palsie, Sonne, be of good cheere, thy sinnes be forgiuen thee.

³And behold, certaine of the Scribes said within themselues, This man blasphemeth.

⁴And Iesus knowing their thoughts, said, Wherefore thinke yee euill in your hearts?

⁵For whether is easier to say, Thy sinnes be forgiuen thee: or to say, Arise, and walke?

⁶But that yee may know that the sonne of man hath power on earth to forgiue sinnes, (Then saith hee to the sicke of the palsie) Arise, take vp thy bed, and goe vnto thine house.

⁷And he arose, and departed to his house.

⁸But when the multitudes saw it, they marueiled, & glorified God, which had giuen such power vnto men.

Jesus Calls Matthew the Tax Collector

⁹And as Iesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man named Matthew, sitting at the receite of custome: and he saith vnto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

¹⁰And it came to passe, as Iesus sate at meate in the house, behold, many publicanes and sinners, came and sate downe with him and his Disciples.

¹¹And when the Pharisees saw it, they said vnto his disciples, Why eateth your master with publicanes & sinners.

¹²But when Iesus heard that, hee said vnto them, They that be whole neede not a Physicion, but they that are sicke.

¹³But goe ye and learne what that meaneth, I will haue mercy and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

A Question About Fasting

¹⁴Then came to him the disciples of Iohn, saying, Why doe we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?

¹⁵And Iesus saide vnto them, Can the children of the bride-chamber mourne, as long as the bridegrome is with them? But the dayes will come when the bridegrome shall bee taken from them, and then shall they fast.

¹⁶No man putteth a piece of new cloth vnto an olde garment: for that which is put in to fill it vp, taketh from the garment, & the rent is made worse.

¹⁷Neither doe men put new wine into old bottels: else the bottels breake, and the wine runneth out, and the bottels perish: but they put new wine into new bottels, and both are preserued.

Jairus's Daughter and the Bleeding Woman

¹⁸While hee spake these things vnto them, beholde, there came a certaine ruler and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is euen now dead: but come, and lay thy hand vpon her, and she shall liue.

¹⁹And Iesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.

²⁰(And behold, a woman which was diseased with an issue of blood twelue yeeres, came behinde him, and touched the hemme of his garment.

²¹For she said within her selfe, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

²²But Iesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, bee of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that houre.)

²³And when Iesus came into the rulers house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,

²⁴He said vnto them, Giue place, for the mayd is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorne.

²⁵But when the people were put foorth, he went in, and tooke her by the hand: and the mayd arose.

²⁶And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

Jesus Heals Two Blind Men

²⁷And when Iesus departed thence, two blinde men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou sonne of Dauid, haue mercy on vs.

²⁸And when he was come into the house, the blinde men came to him: and Iesus saith vnto them, Beleeue ye that I am able to doe this? They said vnto him, Yea, Lord.

²⁹Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith, bee it vnto you.

³⁰And their eyes were opened: and Iesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

³¹But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that countrey.

Jesus Heals a Man Unable to Speak

³²As they went out, beholde, they brought to him a dumbe man possessed with a deuill.

³³And when the deuil was cast out, the dumbe spake, and the multitudes marueiled, saying, It was neuer so seene in Israel.

³⁴But the Pharisees said, He casteth out the deuils through the prince of the deuils.

The Workers Are Few

³⁵And Iesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their Synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the kingdome, and healing euery sickenesse, and euery disease among the people.

³⁶But when he saw the multitudes, he was moued with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheepe hauing no shepheard.

³⁷Then saith he vnto his disciples, The haruest truely is plenteous, but the labourers are few.

³⁸Pray ye therefore the Lord of the haruest, that hee will send foorth labourers into his haruest.
