The River of the Water of Life and the Tree of Life

¹Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb

²down the middle of the main street of the city. On either side of the river stood a tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit and yielding a fresh crop for each month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

³No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be within the city, and His servants will worship Him.

⁴They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.

⁵There will be no more night in the city, and they will have no need for the light of a lamp or of the sun. For the Lord God will shine on them, and they will reign forever and ever.

The Promise of Coming Soon and the Warning

⁶Then the angel said to me, “These words are faithful and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His angel to show His servants what must soon take place.”

⁷“Behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of prophecy in this book. ”

⁸And I am John, who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown me these things.

⁹But he said to me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”

¹⁰Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of prophecy in this book, because the time is near.

¹¹Let the unrighteous continue to be unrighteous, and the vile continue to be vile; let the righteous continue to practice righteousness, and the holy continue to be holy.”

¹²“Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done.

¹³I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

¹⁴Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by its gates.

¹⁵But outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

The Final Testimony and the Plea for the Lord

¹⁶“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star.”

¹⁷The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.

¹⁸I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.

¹⁹And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book.

²⁰He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!

²¹The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints.

The Day of the Lord and the Sun of Righteousness

¹“For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble; the day is coming when I will set them ablaze,” says the LORD of Hosts. “Not a root or branch will be left to them.”

²“But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings, and you will go out and leap like calves from the stall.

³Then you will trample the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I am preparing,” says the LORD of Hosts.

I Will Send Elijah

⁴“Remember the law of My servant Moses, the statutes and ordinances I commanded him for all Israel at Horeb.

⁵Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome Day of the LORD.

⁶And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers. Otherwise, I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

Jesus Appears at the Sea of Tiberias

¹Later, by the Sea of Tiberias, Jesus again revealed Himself to the disciples. He made Himself known in this way:

²Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.

³Simon Peter told them, “I am going fishing.”

⁴Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not recognize that it was Jesus.

⁵So He called out to them, “Children, do you have any fish?”

⁶He told them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it there, and they were unable to haul it in because of the great number of fish.

⁷Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it) and jumped into the sea.

⁸The other disciples came ashore in the boat. They dragged in the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards.

⁹When they landed, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish on it, and some bread.

¹⁰Jesus told them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”

¹¹So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many, the net was not torn.

¹²“Come, have breakfast,” Jesus said to them. None of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are You?” They knew it was the Lord.

¹³Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and He did the same with the fish.

¹⁴This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after He was raised from the dead.

Jesus Restores Peter

¹⁵When they had finished eating, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love Me more than these?”

¹⁶Jesus asked a second time, “Simon son of John, do you love Me?”

¹⁷Jesus asked a third time, “Simon son of John, do you love Me?”

¹⁸Truly, truly, I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”

¹⁹Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God.

²⁰Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them. He was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper to ask, “Lord, who is going to betray You?”

²¹When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”

²²Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you? You follow Me!”

²³Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. However, Jesus did not say that he would not die, but only, “If I want him to remain until I return, what is that to you?”

²⁴This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who has written them down. And we know that his testimony is true.

²⁵There are many more things that Jesus did. If all of them were written down, I suppose that not even the world itself would have space for the books that would be written.
