Hear the Lord’s message, Israelites,
but cursing, lying, and murder,
Therefore the land mourns,
Yet let no one bring charges,
You stumble by day,
My people are being destroyed for lack of knowledge;
The more priests there are, the more they sin against me.
They feed on the sin offerings of my people,
Thus it comes to be, like people, like priest:
They will eat and not be satisfied,
prostitution.
My own people ask counsel of a piece of wood!
On the heights of the mountains they sacrifice,
I will not punish your daughters for committing prostitution,
Though you commit adultery, Israel,
Like a willful heifer,
Ephraim is wedded to idols.
When their drinking is over
A windstorm will wrap them in its wings
