Escena 1 창세기 11:1-2

People With One Language

At that time, the whole earth had one language.

People came to a wide plain called Shinar.

Even a good gift becomes dangerous when people use it for pride and forget God.

But people began planning to make a name for themselves in one place.

Escena 2 창세기 11:3

They Began Making Bricks

The people said, "Come, let us make bricks and burn them well."

They used brick instead of stone and bitumen instead of mortar.

The problem was not the bricks, but hearts that were forgetting God.

Their plan grew into a city and a tower reaching toward the heavens.

Escena 3 창세기 11:4

Let Us Make a Name

The people said, "Let us build a city and tower, and make a name for ourselves."

God had called people to fill the earth, but they did not want to be scattered.

The tower showed hearts that thought they could rise high without God.

God saw not only their tower, but also the direction of their hearts.

Escena 4 창세기 11:5-7

God Saw and Stopped Them

God saw the city and tower the people were building.

God clearly saw their hearts and plans.

God confused their language so they would not keep running deeper into pride.

When their language was confused, their great plan stopped and they were scattered.

Escena 5 창세기 11:8-9

Scattered From Babel

Suddenly, people could not understand one another's words.

God scattered them from there over the face of the earth.

A small step of obedience is safer than a great plan that forgets God.

After Babel, the story returns to Shem's descendants and Abram's family.

Escena 6 창세기 11:10-32

Abram's Family Journey Begins

After Babel, the names of Shem's descendants continue again.

Through many generations, the Bible carries the story to Abram's family.

God was preparing the great story in which he would soon call Abram.

The next story continues with God calling Abram and opening the way of blessing.
