Scène 1 창세기 13:1-4

Back to the Place of the Altar

Abram came up from Egypt with Sarai and all he had.

He returned to the place where he had built an altar before.

There Abram called on the name of the Lord.

But Abram and Lot had so many animals that it became hard to live together.

Scène 2 창세기 13:5-7

The Land Became Too Small

Lot also had flocks, herds, and tents.

As their animals increased, the land could not support them together.

A quarrel arose between Abram's herdsmen and Lot's herdsmen.

Abram told Lot they should not quarrel and gave him the first choice.

Scène 3 창세기 13:8-9

Let There Be No Quarreling

Abram told Lot, "Let there be no quarreling between us, for we are family."

He let Lot choose first which way to go.

Because Abram trusted God, he could choose peace and yield.

Lot lifted his eyes and looked toward the well-watered Jordan plain.

Scène 4 창세기 13:10-13

Lot Chose the Jordan Plain

Lot lifted his eyes and saw the Jordan plain.

It looked well watered, so Lot chose that place.

But the Bible says the people of Sodom were wicked before the Lord.

After Lot departed, God spoke again to Abram about the land and offspring.

Scène 5 창세기 13:14-17

Look North, South, East, and West

After Lot departed, God told Abram to lift his eyes and look north, south, east, and west.

God promised to give the land to Abram and his offspring.

Abram needed faith in God's word more than visible abundance.

Abram moved his tent again and stayed by the oaks of Mamre at Hebron.

Abram Built an Altar at Mamre

Abram moved his tent and stayed by the oaks of Mamre at Hebron.

There Abram built an altar to the Lord.

The altar at Mamre marked a place where Abram trusted God again.

In the next chapter, Lot falls into danger during war, and Abram goes to rescue him.
