Cena 1 창세기 15:1

Do Not Be Afraid

The word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision.

God said, "Do not be afraid. I am your shield and your very great reward."

God promised to guard Abram even in the future he could not yet see.

But Abram still carried a deep question because he had no child.

Cena 2 창세기 15:2-3

Abram Asked His Deep Question

Abram honestly told God that he still had no child.

He asked whether Eliezer of Damascus would become his heir.

A person of faith may bring deep questions before God.

God said Abram's heir would not be another man, but a child from his own body.

Cena 3 창세기 15:4-6

As Many as the Stars

God brought Abram outside and told him to look at the stars.

God said, "So shall your offspring be."

Abram believed the Lord, and God counted it to him as righteousness.

God not only gave Abram the promise of the stars, but also spoke again about the land.

Cena 4 창세기 15:7-11

Preparing the Covenant

God said he had brought Abram from Ur to give him this land.

Abram asked how he could know that he would possess it.

God had Abram prepare for a covenant and made the promise clearer.

As the sun was going down, a deep sleep came over Abram, and God spoke of what would happen.

Cena 5 창세기 15:12-16

Words in a Deep Sleep

As the sun was going down, a deep sleep came over Abram.

God said Abram's offspring would live as strangers and pass through hardship.

But God promised not to abandon them and to bring them back.

When the sun had set and it was dark, God showed the covenant through a solemn sign.

Cena 6 창세기 15:17-21

The Covenant of Fire and Smoke

When the sun had set, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed through.

That day God made a covenant with Abram and promised the land to his offspring.

Faith holds fast to the God who is faithful to his word.

In the next chapter, Abram and Sarai struggle to wait for God's time and try their own way through Hagar.
