2. 여인이, 등--아들을 낳은 어머니는 한 주간 의식적으로 부정했으며, 그 끝에 아이가 할례를 받았다(창 17:12; 롬 4:11-13). 딸을 낳은 어머니는 두 주간 부정했다(레 12:5). 이는 죄로 인한 그 성별에 대한 표지였으나(딤전 2:14, 15), 그리스도로 말미암아 제거되었다. 그 기간에 그녀 가까이 오는 사람은 누구나 같은 더러움을 입었다. 이 기간들이 지난 뒤에는 방문객들이 그녀에게 다가갈 수 있었지만, 그녀는 여전히 공적인 종교 규례에서는 제외되었다[레 12:4].

2. If a woman, &c.--The mother of a boy was ceremonially unclean for a week, at the end of which the child was circumcised

(Ge 17:12; Ro 4:11-13);

the mother of a girl for two weeks

(Le 12:5)

--a stigma on the sex

(1Ti 2:14, 15)

for sin, which was removed by Christ; everyone who came near her during that time contracted a similar defilement. After these periods, visitors might approach her though she was still excluded from the public ordinances of religion

[Le 12:4].

6-8. 그녀의 정결하게 되는 날이 차면--그 일이 축제적 성격을 지녔지만, 정해진 제사는 화목제가 아니라 번제와 속죄제였다. 이는 부모의 마음에 죄의 기원과, 아이가 타락하고 죄 있는 본성을 물려받았다는 사실을 깊이 새기기 위한 것이었다. 제물은 그녀의 격리 기간이 끝난 다음 날, 곧 아들의 경우 마흔한째 날, 딸의 경우 여든한째 날에 드려야 했다.

6-8. the days of her purifying--Though the occasion was of a festive character, yet the sacrifices appointed were not a peace offering, but a burnt offering and sin offering, in order to impress the mind of the parent with recollections of the origin of sin, and that the child inherited a fallen and sinful nature. The offerings were to be presented the day after the period of her separation had ended--that is, forty-first for a boy, eighty-first for a girl.
