Yes, God is good to the upright,
But my feet were almost gone,
through envy of godless braggarts,
For never a pang have they,
They have no trouble like mortals,
So they wear their pride like a necklace,
their eyes stand out with fatness,
Their speech is mocking and evil,
They have set their mouth in the heavens,
Small wonder that people resort to them,
“How does God know?” they say,
See! These are the godless,
Yes, in vain have I kept my heart pure,
for all the day long was I plagued
But to resolve to speak like they do
So I sought to understand it,
till I entered the holy world of God
Yes, you set them on slippery places;
One moment and then what a horror of ruin!
Like a dream, when one wakes, shall they be,
So my bitterness of mind
show how dull I was and stupid
But I am always with you,
By a plan of yours you guide me
Whom have I in the heavens but you?
Though flesh and heart waste away,
For see! Those who are far from you must perish,
But I am happy when close to God;
