Karena sejak penciptaan dunia, sifat-sifat-Nya sebagai Allah sudah terlihat jelas melalui seluruh ciptaan-Nya. Dengan demikian, kita mengerti hal-hal tentang Dia yang tidak bisa dilihat mata, yaitu keilahian-Nya dan kuasa-Nya yang kekal. Jadi tidak ada alasan apa pun bagi manusia untuk tidak mengenal Allah.

Namun, meskipun mereka mengetahui tentang Dia, mereka tidak memuliakan-Nya sebagai Allah dan tidak bersyukur kepada-Nya. Sebaliknya, mereka memikirkan hal-hal yang sia-sia dan bodoh, sehingga pikiran mereka penuh dengan kegelapan.
