covered with robe of light.
He lays the beams of his chambers on water.
He takes the winds for his messengers,
He founded the earth upon pillars,
With the garment of ocean he covered it,
But at your rebuke they fled,
mountains rose, valleys sank down
They dared not pass the bounds set for them,
He sent brooks into the valleys,
The wild beasts all drink from them,
The birds have their home by the banks,
From his chambers above he gives drink to the mountains,
He makes grass grow for the cattle,
wine, to gladden hearts;
The trees of the Lord drink their fill
where the little birds build their nest,
The high hills are for the wild goats,
He created the moon to mark seasons,
You make it dark: night comes,
Young lions that roar for their prey,
At sunrise they slink away,
Then people go forth to their work,
How many, O Lord, are your works,
And there is the great broad sea,
There go the ships,
They all look in hope to you,
And you give with open hand;
When you hide your face, they are terrified;
But a breath from your lips creates them,
May the glory of the Lord be forever,
A glance of his makes the earth tremble,
I will sing to the Lord while I live,
May my musing be sweet to him,
But may sinners be swept from the earth,
