Bible Notes — Write Your Own and Study Public Author Advanced Notes

A sample Advanced Note is a light example that shows what the Advanced Note system produces. When a member creates their own Advanced Note, the sample is copied as the initial content so they can learn the feature, and from there it can be freely edited or deleted.

My Advanced Notes are notes you write yourself. Beyond long notes under a verse, you can add colors, text colors, and superscript comments to words in the text, and use the sample as a reference to build your own reading and authoring flow.

Advanced Note authors can build their own interpretation layer. Only Advanced Notes are made public.

Advanced Notes are not just a collection of per-verse writing. The color meanings, columns, and concept dictionaries an author uses repeatedly are managed as global data, and are linked from verse notes or superscript comments to reduce duplicate writing.

Advanced Notes do not stay only on the text. You can also add comments to resources linked to a verse — such as original-language words, cross references, and historical commentaries — and they are managed together as the same Advanced Note data as your text notes. It is like leaving an interpretation right where it occurred to you while reading the resource.

Readers can keep Advanced Notes always expanded, or read the text only and expand the note for just the verse they need. The screen supports states such as text + notes, text only, and hide all, and verses that have notes can be expanded individually.

Historical commentaries such as Matthew Henry are treated as “commentaries,” while layers written by users or published by authors are distinguished as “Advanced Notes.” Because Advanced Notes can include private records, author explanations, columns, concept dictionaries, and color meanings, we do not call them simply “annotations.”
