Month two
A month has passed since the last notice. Thank you to everyone who has been reading here. Below is a summary of what we added. Day-to-day details are recorded as they happen in the changelog.
What we added
- Exodus is finished in the illustrated Bible — All 40 chapters of Exodus are now open, including chapter 8, which had been missing and has been restored and re-checked across the whole book. Leviticus and Numbers have begun. What was 115 chapters and 877 scenes at the last notice is now 139 chapters and 1,043 scenes. Every scene has narration, but it is still a machine voice — work on a better-sounding voice has not started yet.
- Bible Quiz is open — 10,000 questions across 16 books, including 3,000 for all 150 Psalms and 1,000 for all 50 chapters of Genesis. Each chapter is split into four groups so you can choose a difficulty. Start at Bible Quiz.
- A reading mode for e-ink devices — A separate screen built for e-ink readers, with full screen, physical page-turn buttons, verse-by-verse paging, and a bolder text option. Typing read.scripture.how takes you straight to Bible reading.
- Bible timeline — A timeline for following the events and people of the Bible in order. The groundwork for organizing primary chronology sources is in place as well.
- Korean commentary translation — Adam Clarke's commentary is 96% translated (John is complete), and John Gill's commentary reached 40% with 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, Nehemiah, and Deuteronomy finished in full. Matthew Henry's commentary has been revised throughout for wording and scripture-reference formatting. Commentary entries readable in Korean went from 65,000 to 80,000, about 61.5 million characters.
- 13 languages — Filipino and Vietnamese have been added, bringing the site to 13 languages. Japanese and Chinese commentary translations grew by more than 22,000 entries.
- Places to talk — A KakaoTalk channel and a Discord server are open. You can find them in the account menu and in the footer.
What we fixed
We corrected 94 scripture-citation errors in Job quiz explanations and removed questions that were not suitable for children along with duplicates. We fixed buttons that were invisible on older e-readers, page-turn keys that stopped working in full screen, and misaligned bottom buttons on iPad. The mobile menu now opens from the right, and the language list starts from the language you are currently reading in. Signing in with a social account now respects your stay-signed-in setting as well.
