One month in
A month has passed since scripture.how opened on July 14. Thank you to everyone who has been reading here. From now on we will post a summary like this once a month. Day-to-day details are recorded as they happen in the changelog.
What we added
- Children's Story Bible — Genesis is now complete through chapter 50, and Exodus has opened through chapter 24 (chapter 8 still in preparation). What was 69 chapters and 515 scenes at launch is now 115 chapters and 877 scenes. Every scene can be played as narration, but the voice is still machine-generated; making it pleasant to listen to has not begun yet.
- Barnes' Notes fully translated into Korean — all 22,781 entries across the 66 books, roughly 17.7 million Korean characters. Three commentaries are now complete in Korean (JFB, Matthew Henry, Barnes), and Korean commentary entries grew from 46,000 to 65,000. John Gill's Exposition is 36% translated.
- Eleven languages — the site interface is available in Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Spanish, French, German, Russian, Portuguese and Italian. Each language has its own address (/en/, /ja/ …) that you can share directly. Japanese and Chinese commentary translations also grew by more than 24,000 entries.
- Rebuilt Bible search — the 100-result limit is gone and full results are paged. You can combine words (all of them, any of them, exclude, exact phrase), narrow results (canon, category, book, version, chapter), and keep several searches open in tabs.
- Bible reader — a per-verse original-language table with word grouping, quick tools at the bottom of the screen, resuming where you last read, and writing a note across several selected verses at once. Verse tags stay in place even when you switch translations. Two Korean versions were added, bringing Korean to ten.
- Faster pages — chapter pages are 15% lighter and open more quickly, with no change to the text or features you see.
What we fixed
Errors that had crept into the Clarke commentary source text were corrected and about 40,000 truncated characters were restored. Matthew Henry's commentary is being revised for consistent style and scripture references. We also fixed pages that failed to open after signing in, language-switching errors, and the support and payment flow.
